General Manager
An international industrial group from metrology business with strong and growing operations across Europe is seeking a General Manager (Managing Director) to lead its Spanish branch.
With continued growth ahead and integration into a global structure led by headquarters in Asia, this is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned operational leader to strengthen and professionalize the Spanish operations.
The role is primarily focused on logistics, internal operations, and people management. The General Manager will ensure that the organization runs smoothly on a daily basis, implementing procedures, addressing current weaknesses, and guaranteeing reliable service for customers and distributors.
Finance and administration are also part of the scope, but with the support of an external accountant. The emphasis is on operational efficiency and leadership.
Tasks:
- Lead day-to-day operations with a strong focus on logistics, deliveries, and warehouse processes.
- Introduce and enforce clear procedures and policies to ensure accuracy and efficiency across all internal operations.
- Manage and develop a team of employees (sales support, warehouse staff, technical engineers), ensuring collaboration and accountability.
- Oversee finance and tax compliance at a supervisory level, supported by an external accountant (part-time).
- Report directly to the Board and global headquarters, ensuring alignment with group standards.
- Actively contribute as a Board Member for the European organization, supporting coordination with other branches.
Requirements:
- Strong background in logistics, operations management, or general administration.
- Experience in leading and developing teams (10–30 people) in an operational/industrial or distribution environment.
- Solid understanding of finance, taxation, and company administration (enough to oversee, not necessarily as a specialist).
- Track record of introducing clear structures, procedures, and policies to improve organizational efficiency.
- Based in Bilbao (Derio) or willing to relocate – this is the key requirement.
- Fluent in Spanish and English.
- Hands-on, pragmatic leader with the ability to quickly understand the situation, stabilize operations, and establish long-term order.
